Our Mission
Our knowledgeable staff have been the highlight of our store since our beginnings.
Through numerous in-store readings and literary events, and by frequently hosting authors in other Edmonton community locations, we are continually creating venues that connect visiting writers with readers and book lovers.
Audreys endeavours to provide the complete bookstore experience. We are proud to employ a staff of knowledgeable and dedicated individuals who are happy to offer expert personalized service. We stock a wideselection of wonderful books to help you find the perfect gift for every reader in your life. We offer great value like 25% off on all Globe & Mail bestsellers everyday, special offers and savings for our Audreys Book Club members and our permanent “lemonade stand” on our lower level where you’re sure to find great bargains on all sorts of books.

Browse our selection of unique non-book and seasonal gift items such as spice gift sets, handcrafted toys from “Melissa & Doug” and the best selection of cards in the downtown core.

Audreys Books Ltd., incorporated in 1975, actually traces its roots directly back to the bookstores founded by Mel Hurtig in the mid-fifties.

It has continued to flourish by being a touchstone for the writing community in Edmonton, a place for local and visiting writers to meet readers and book lovers. Our bookstore comprises two retail levels, with modular fixtures on our lower level to permit reconfiguration of the floor to accommodate 65-75 seats. This provides an excellent presentation space for readings.

Since 1988, Audreys has been co-owned and operated by the husband and wife partnership of Steve and Sharon Budnarchuk, handling administrative duties and merchandising/marketing respectively.

We host numerous readings and literary events annually (50+), frequently hosting author events in other community venues to increase our reach and help connect writers to readers. We also attend many commercial and institutional conferences, workshops and seminars to display and sell books as part of our community outreach program.

Our Objective: To support Canadian writers by offering an excellent book selection and by providing a suitable environment for the local literary experience, while ensuring the existence of a professional practical alternative
