About Us
Tattletales is an independent, family owned children’s bookstore that has been serving the Maritimes since 1995. We specialize in books for infants, toddlers, children and young adults. Our mission is to find the perfect book for every child. After all, we are Tattletales, “WE CAN’T KEEP SECRETS, SPREADING STORIES IS OUR BUSINESS”.
Over the years we have developed an outstanding ‘Teacher Resource Section’ with the most popular and exciting titles teachers are looking for. We also have an excellent Special Order Department—if we don’t have what you are looking for, and it is available for order, we will bring it in for you. At the very least, we will try our best to help you find it.
Our toy buyers go to great lengths to source out the best and the most exciting, unique, quality toys available. With toys from yesteryears to developmental and educational lines, our shelves create an enjoyable shopping experience for all who enter.
Remember to visit us soon. If you have not already done so, like us on Facebook and check out our website frequently for news and deals.
Serving our Community
In our mission statement we vowed to give back to the community in which we live. It was, in our mind, a basic requirement of doing business. Thus, our Partners in Education Program came to be. Through this program a percentage of our customers’ sales were donated to the schools in our community. During the next 12 years, over $80,000 worth of books, were placed in our community schools.
Wanting to do more, we came up with the idea for a PENNY promotion. Through this promotion, we felt the schools could realize a much larger benefit. Therefore, “The Penny Campaign” was born.
On February 1, 2007 Tattletales placed one penny in a pot. The goal: to double the number of pennies in the pot each day for the 28 days of February. We will continue this campaign until we reach our goal at Day 28 of 134,217,728.
With seven campaigns and with the regular schools/educators discount, approximately $700,000 worth of books have been placed in participating schools.
Help for our campaign comes from many places:

Thanks To All Who Help!
Again this year, Tattletales would like to thank our supporters, including Scotiabank, for embracing our vision and donating so generously to our schools. We would also like to thank our publishers:
Simon & Schuster Canada
And of course many thanks to our biggest supporter – Judy White and the Halifax Regional School Board who help to put literacy and books above all.
