2016 Giller Shortlist

The 2016 Scotiabank Giller Prize jury announced its shortlist on Monday, September 26, 2016, derived from a longlist of 12 books. The jury read an amazing 161 books submitted by 69 publisher imprints from every region of the country. The longlist was selected by an esteemed five-member jury panel: Canadian writers Lawrence Hill (jury chair), Jeet Heer and Kathleen Winter, English author Samantha Harvey and Scottish novelist Alan Warner.

The shortlisted finalists for the 2016 Scotiabank Giller Prize are as follows:

Greetings kids, teachers, parents and friends!  October 11th is a very special day in Durham Region.  It's SEVEN DAY!!  All the fabulous authors that you have enjoyed getting to know through this excellent series are coming to a school near you.  And if that doesn't work out for you, they will be at a fantastic evening event at 6:30 pm in the Regal Room of the Centennial Building, 416 Centre Street South in Whitby.  

If you would like your very own book, signed by the author, pre-order TODAY and avoid disappointment and line-ups!  Order on-line and Blue Heron Books will deliver to your school, or to the event at the Centennial Building.  Simply specify your preference in your order. (Select:  'Pickup at store' and in Additional Information section under 'Instructions' specify where you will be picking up your book; don't forget your school name if that's where you will be picking up).
